Chocolate – keeps you slim...no really, it does!
You may be shocked to find that, that those that eat chocolate regularly tend to be thinner…
The findings have come from a study that was conducted in the USA, of nearly 1000 people and it looked at diet, calorie intake and BMI – which is the normal measure of obesity.
The study found that those who ate chocolate regularly (i.e. a few times a week), where in actual fact slimmer than those who only ate it occasionally.
The study claims, that even though chocolate is calorific, it has ingredients that favour weight loss, rather than weight gain. It appears that they key is how often you eat the chocolate, rather than how much chocolate you actually eat.
This isn’t the first time that scientists have suggested that chocolate is good for you, they have suggested:
1. it is good for the heart
2. certain types of chocolate have seen positive changes in blood pressure, insulin sensitivity and cholesterol level
3. dark chocolate contains anti-oxidants that can help to mop up harmful free radical (unstable chemicals that can damage our cells
The only thing is, while there is no harm in allowing yourself to have a treat, every now and then, eating too much chocolate may be harmful because it does contain a lot of fat and sugar.
So perhaps a change in diet, should involve fresh fruit and vegetables rather than chocolate!
