What do you use your Smartphone for?
Smartphones are becoming a huge part of our daily lives, so much so that they are replacing many of our favourite gadgets, for example, alarm clocks, digital cameras and notepads.
Therefore, it may come as a surprise to you, the main favoured purpose of the smartphone isn't actually making phone calls (shocked? So was I!).
A survey carried out by O2 found that people on average spent (per day):
-
25mins on the Internet
-
18mins on Social Media websites
-
16mins listening to music
-
15mins playing games.
-
12mins making phone calls
-
11mins sending emails
-
10mins sending text messages
-
9mins watching TV
-
9mins reading e-books
-
3mins taking photos on their smartphone.
Other figures obtained from this survey included, people on average spent more than 2 hours a day using their smartphone. O2 state that smartphones have now been adopted as ‘digital Swiss Army Knives’, as it has replaced many every day possessions including watches, cameras and even to some extent computers and laptops.
Interestingly, the trend is more advanced in the USA, where people have been making less and less mobile calls; where the average length of a call is around 90 seconds.
